Solid Vaseline CM e is a semisolid mixture of petroleum-derived hydrocarbons, consisting of paraffinic fractions and mineral oils. It appears as a homogeneous, greasy mass with a plastic consistency, ranging in color from white to slightly yellowish and virtually odorless.
It is practically insoluble in water, alcohol, and glycerin and is soluble in nonpolar organic solvents such as toluene, hexane, and turpentine. It has a characteristic plastic consistency, remaining semisolid at room temperature and becoming progressively more fluid as the temperature rises. The combination of liquid and solid hydrocarbon fractions provides a soft, uniform, and oily texture.
